With great pride and pleasure we present to you the physician's directory of the San Diego Association of Physicians of Indian Origin and Allied Health Professionals (S.A.P.I.). Our association is only a seven month old infant. Dr. Krishna Goyal and I organized the first medical education dinner meeting in November of 1996. In January of 1997 we made an official organization with its officers, Board of Directors and various committees. We have had two medical education dinner meetings, and an annual picnic this year. The bylaws of our association are in place. To celebrate India's 50th Independence year, we are organizing a full health fair including blood sugar check, cholesterol check, osteoporosis check, vision check. dental screening. We want to help the community in a substantial way with your support. My heart felt thanks to Dr. Pamela Sawhney, Dr. Sangita Bhasin, and others in helping organize the health fair.
The objectives of the association are:
- To bring together physicians, dentists, and other health professionals of Indian heritage practicing in San Diego county and neighboring areas under one organization.
- The association is organized exclusively for scientific, educational, cultural, and charitable purposes.
- To support and foster the availability of medical assistance to indigent people.
- To provide mutual understanding and cooperation between this association and other associations in San Diego, USA and India.
- To maintain a directory of physicians of Indian origin.
- To provide other member services as needed.
Professionals in this directory are not only well trained physicians, with clinical acumen and compassion for their patients, but also possess the special sensitivity and commitment to the social and cultural needs of the Indian community.
I would like to thank all the member of the committee particularly Dr. Manorama Reddy in helping me organize all the dinner meetings. Also my heartfelt thanks to Naran Kerai, Rph., Dr. James Vevaina, and Dr. Vinod Kuruvadi for their help and guidance in putting together this directory. This is our first attempt in compiling a directory, we apologize for any errors.
